S3S Wins 2021 RSA Outstanding Graduate Student Chapter Award
In 2021, RCID won the Rhetoric Society of America’s Outstanding Graduate Student Chapter Award. This award is given to outstanding student chapters each year. The Society of the Third Sophistic chapter was selected because of its robust calendar of events, and the chapter’s work in bringing graduate students across disciplines together.
The executive board of S3S during this time were Hannah Taylor, Doctoral Candidate; Dr. Jacob Richter, Visiting Assistant Professor at Georgia Tech University; and Dr. Victoria Houser, Assistant Professor at Methodist University.
In the acceptance speech, Hannah said the executive board was thrilled to be accepting the award.
“Our success would not have been possible without the hard work of our fellow graduate students, alumni, and Clemson’s faculty across departments who participated in our events,” Hannah said.
Dr. Houser added, “We would also like to thank our program director, Dr. Cynthia Haynes, as well as our faculty mentors, Dr. Jan Holmevik and Dr. David Blakesley. Your support to our program has been invaluable to us all.”
