Job Description:

The Department of English invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Rhetoric and Writing Studies to begin Fall 2023. Preferred areas of expertise include rhetoric, law, and culture with priority given to applicants with experience in legal humanities and cultural studies (including African-American, Latinx, Asian, and Indigenous foci), social justice approaches to research and teaching, and anti-racist pedagogy. We seek a colleague who will work with the intellectual interests of our burgeoning population of international students in the PhD program and whose research and teaching align with the department’s curricular needs across our graduate programs in rhetoric, literature, and English education. The successful candidate will teach RWS courses associated with the Law School Preparation Institute and UTEP’s legal reasoning minor.

Requirements:

Ph.D. in Rhetoric, English, Comparative Literature, or related field by August 31, 2023. Active research agenda and strong commitment to teaching first-generation students at a Hispanic-Serving Institution.
